The Alliance Française de Paris is represented in the United States by its General delegation, based at the French Embassy in Washington. AF de New Orleans benefits from the Délégation générale support and expertise in organizing its cultural events and French classes.

The Alliance Française in the United States is affiliated with the century-old worldwide network, which was established at the Alliance Française de Paris in 1883. The first Alliance chapter in the United States was established in 1888. Today there are 145 chapters in 45 states, which serve more than 30,000 members nationwide. Through educational and cultural programs, the Alliance Française offers a unique opportunity to experience the French language and culture.

A Worldwide Network to learn or practice French as a Foreign Language
L'Alliance Française is the largest network of French language and cultural centers in the world. There are 1,300 Alliance chapters established in 112 countries, including 140 chapters in the United States, serving 400,000 students.
L'Alliance Française is dedicated to promoting French language and culture, and to fostering friendly relations between francophones and francophiles of all racial, national and ethnic origins.
In New Orleans
L'Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans, a non-profit, non governmental cultural and educational association, is headed by a Franco-American Board of Directors. It is a 501(c)(3) not subsidized by the French Government.
Students of the Alliance Française have the advantage of learning French in small, personal classes that provide an authentic French environment where native instructors use the most modern and enjoyable teaching methods available.
The Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans offers a variety of cultural and social events including lectures, concerts, exhibits, parties, discussion groups, as well as quality courses in French. Through six sessions per year, the Alliance Française offers day, evening, and Saturday classes taught by professionally-trained native teachers.
While most of our classes are designed for adults, we also offer Children's French Immersion classes and a children's Summer Camp. Private Tutoring is available throughout the year for all ages. AF Members are welcome to check out books from our library, watch French TV in our salon, use our student computers, as well as borrow videos from our French film library.
