Chers amis,

In 2009, the Alliance Française of New Orleans has celebrated 25 years of teaching the language of the city’s founders.

Our chapter is part of the international Alliance Française organization, first started in Paris in 1883 by such visionaries as Jules Verne. We are one of 60 teaching AF chapters in the USA and we invite you to join our membership.

AFNO brings in an array of vital programs to New Orleans each year. Perhaps your children experienced “Cocoricocola” at their school? Or you joined the crowd at a lecture at Tulane, Loyola or the Historic New Orleans Collection by a famous French diplomat or historian? Maybe you enjoyed French music from Toulouse over drinks at Le Chat Noir? These are some of the unique choices Alliance Française brings to our city.

Membership benefits

In our two-storied AF building on Jackson Avenue near Prytania, we offer members an array of consistent classes at all levels. We are staffed with dedicated native French teachers. Most importantly, an AF membership actively provides for the needs of our members: private and conversation classes, French summer camps, discussion forums, restaurant dinners in French and elegant galas where new friends are made. Going away this summer? Take classes at other AF chapters! Our students get a “passport” that informs your new AF teachers of your exact level and experience!

Even if you just think French and don’t talk French, as a member of our Alliance, you can come over and access TV5, the French national news and cultural channel on cable, and our library, CD and DVD collections. We host convivial wine tastings, cheese pairings, and art shows. We hold a yearly Noel des Enfants and are developing a Baby Alliance.

So as you can see, we are not just a French classroom!
The perfect gift for any Francophile!
Please fill out our membership form and we will see you at our next Alliance event!

A bientôt,

E. Alexandra Stafford President of the Board
