Donate time

The Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans always welcomes individuals who are passionate not only about French language and culture, but also about donating their time and resources to help the advancement of the organization. Alliance Française volunteers are at the heart of the organization and it wouldn't be where it is today without their help. In fulfillment of the mission, the Alliance Française holds several cultural and social events every month. Volunteers help out with everything from administrative tasks in the office to set-up/clean-up of our events. In the past, volunteers have come in regularly to work on a specific project such as planning and publicity for an event, or gathering information for grant applications.

If you are looking to immerse yourself in French Culture and help a good cause at the same time, then the Alliance Française can help find a volunteer opportunity that is right for you.

Donate expertise

As with most non-profits, the goals and objectives of the organization are often loftier than the resources available to carry them out. That is why the Alliance Française de La Nouvelle-Orléans is always looking for skilled help.

Individuals with expertise in technology, public relations, finance and development, can and do positively effect and promote the advancement of the Alliance Française.

Know that one person does make a difference!

Your donation to the Alliance Française promotes cultural diversity in the New Orleans Community. It provides a forum for promoting a worldly perspective in today's global society. Although part of the global Alliance network, we are independent and count on the local community and their generosity as well as other donor sources.

The Alliance Française doesn't serve a commercial purpose. In each country, it is self-managed, registered according to local laws as a not-for-profit organization and run by a board formed with persons from the fields of business, science and culture. Our main objectives are to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and Francophone cultures, to increase knowledge of the French language, and to encourage interaction among French, Francophone and American people through programs in education and the arts.

Support our Community Outreach Programs

The program took place twice a week for eight weeks after school at S.J. Green Charter School, focusing on grades 5 - 8.

As part of our mission, we strive to provide French language programs in the community for children who would not otherwise have access to learning a foreign language. In 2009, for the first time, Alliance Française and Kid smART have been working together to make learning French very accessible by weaving its instruction with hands-on work in the visual arts. In this way, students can have fun learning a language, and become interested in further studies. Adding a basic French component to an artistic activity has provided children, who never had access to a foreign language, to open their ears and mind to a new culture; naming colors in French, or learning basic songs, added a playful aspect to their discovery.

KID smart programs are designed to benefit at-risk children living in disadvantaged neighborhoods - 90% of students in schools served by KID smART come from households with incomes that fall below the federal poverty level.
