We will explore the historical impact of the French Revolution and its ties to the American Revolution, the influences and direct link of French 18th century Revolution philosophers like Montesquieu, Voltaire, Rousseau and the creation of the American ideals of Democracy. In addition, we will also narrow in on New Orleans and how the French Revolution impacted this area, inspiring the Ste Domingue Revolution and the large waves of immigration from the archipelago to the city spreading out into other areas of Louisiana along the Mississippi, the French Creole plantations that at one time were more numerous than English plantations in the state.
