"A Creole French Connection: 19th Century New Orleans Free People of Color and their relationship with France” 

As Founder and Artistic Director of OperaCréole, Ms. Joseph’s research on operatic composers of African descent has been featured in The New Yorker, Southern Living magazine, and on NPR. and she was previously honored as a "Standard Bearer " of Louisiana culture on "Le Grand Tour" a documentary for French TV.

Her company received The Gambit affiliated Classical Arts Awards in 2019 and 2018, and a nomination in 2016..

Since 2011, the international soloist, with her daughter, Aria Mason, OperaCréole co-founder, has successfully mounted lost operas by composers of color such as Samuel Coleridge Taylor's Thelma , and Lucien Lambert’s La Flamenca. In 2018 they created an original opera Les Lions de la Reconstruction, in honor of New Orleans’ TriCentennial

The mezzo-soprano has been featured in many New Orleans Opera productions, works with the Education Department and serves on their Advisory Board. She has been a long serving Board Member of Alliance Française.
