Join us for an evening of photography and diversity with renowned photographer Camille Farrah Lenain as she presents "The Soul of the Sitter," sharing some of her long-term projects and discussing the different approaches to the photographic portrait. During this event, enjoy the international exhibit "Sports Friendly," which features photos from around the world, plus, photos of New Orleans's very own Rougaroux Ruby team-photographed by Camille Farrah Lenain.

Exhibit: Sports Friendly: the field of diversity

“Sport Friendly: the field of diversity!” is intended to be a starting point for social commitment to tackling the problem of discrimination and violence in sport. A photographic production to promote INCLUSIVE SPORT, spotlighting inclusive sports teams that seek to redefine the classic values of sport, affirming that regardless of sexual orientation or identity, gender or physical or social condition, there is a place for everyone. Teams working for change and inclusion, in sport and in society.

A French-Algerian documentary and portrait photographer, will delve into her unique approach to portrait photography, challenging societal preconceptions and exploring themes of stereotypes, collective memory, and plural identities.

About Camille Farrah Lenain:

  • Background: Grew up in Paris, studied Photography at l’ESA in Brussels and at ICP in New York City.
  • Relocation: Moved to New Orleans in 2013.
  • Notable Work: Featured in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Garden and Gun, Burnaway, ELLE Magazine, The Bitter Southerner, Libération, and more.
  • Accolades: 2024 USA winner of the Leica Women Foto Prize.
  • Exhibitions: Her work has been showcased internationally, including at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Arab World Institute, Festival Incadaques, Photoville, and PhotoVogue Festival.
  • Residency: Former Artist-in-Residence at the Joan Mitchell Center.
