Conference : New Views of A Vibrant Universe by Isabelle Grenier

-
@ Alliance Française New Orleans

Join us for New Views on a Vibrant Universe, an inspiring conference by renowned astrophysicist Isabelle Grenier. A member of the Astrophysics, Instrumentation and Modelling Laboratory (AIM – Univ. Paris-Saclay, CNRS, CEA, Univ. Paris Cité) and Professor of Astrophysics at Université Paris Cité, Grenier is a leading specialist in high-energy stars and the interstellar medium. Awarded the prestigious 2022 CNES Astrophysics Prize from the French Academy of Sciences, she has spent recent years working with the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope, exploring interstellar gas and cosmic rays.

Discover how cutting-edge observations are transforming our understanding of the dynamic, energetic universe.

The public lecture will describe recent discoveries about the nature of powerful, sometimes explosive, sources of energy that are invisible in the optical sky to our naked eye, but dominate the sky when it is viewed through modern astronomical facilities such as the Compton Gamma-Ray Observatory or the Chandra X-ray observatory.  Professor Grenier will discuss how observations of these energetic sources are challenging our understanding of the life cycles of matter and energy in the Universe.

Introduction words by Adrien Picquenot, postdoctoral researcher in astroparticle physics at Louisiana State University. His work focuses on high-energy cosmic rays and advanced data analysis methods, including deep learning applications in space-based experiments.

In partnership with LSU Department of Physics & Astronomy, Villa Albertine and the French General Consulate in Louisiana
