8 femmes by François Ozon (2003)

17-year-old Tal has emigrated from France to Jerusalem with her family. She writes a letter expressing her refusal to accept that only hatred can reign between Israelis and Palestinians. She slips the letter into a bottle, and her brother throws it into the sea near Gaza, where he is carrying out his military service. A few weeks later, Tal receives a e-mail response from a mysterious "Gazaman," a young Palestinian named Naim. Thus begins a turbulent but tender long-distance friendship between two young people that are separated by a history they are trying both to understand and change. This engrossing and hopeful drama starring Hiam Abbas is based on the award-winning novel by Valérie Zenatti. 

Raja is a nineteen-year-old orphan literally and figuratively scarred by life. Fred is an emotionally bankrupt westerner living amid his plush gardens and palm trees. Set against the backdrop of contemporary Marrakech, Raja is a cross-cultural drama about a wealthy middle-aged Frenchman's complex relationship with local youth. Fred's attempts to seduce Raja, and their mutual attempt at manipulation, are fractured by their gross disparity of income, age and cultural sophistication.

Bien qu'ayant perdu son travail, Michel vit heureux avec Marie-Claire. Ces deux-là s'aiment depuis trente ans. Leurs enfants et leurs petits-enfants les comblent. Ils ont des amis très proches. Ils sont fiers de leurs combats syndicaux et politiques. Leurs consciences sont aussi transparentes que leurs regards. Ce bonheur va voler en éclats avec leur porte-fenêtre devant deux jeunes hommes armés et masquésnqui les frappent, les attachent. leur arrachent leurs alliances. et s'enfuient avec leurs cartes de crédit... Leur désarroi sers d'autant plus violent lorsqu'ils apprennent que cette brutale agression a été organisée par l'un des jeunes ouvriers licenciés avec Michel. 

Michel is an honest union rep who has the unenviable job of deciding which of his workers will be laid off. Settling on a lottery system, he puts his oen name in the biox and ends up out of a job. When Michel and his cloest friends fall victim to a violent home invasion, he is compelled to find the assailants, but what he uncovers forces him to question his entire belief system.

Le Grand Voyage (English Subtitled) by Ismaël Ferroukhi (2015)

A sensitive portrait of Sabine Bonnaire, the autistic sister of the french actress Sandrine Bonnaire.

This entertaining comedy finds disgraced former police officer Nestor Patou (Jack Lemmon) falling for beautiful parisian prostitute Irma La Douce (Shirley MacLaine). Nestor becomes Irma's pimp, though he can't stand the idea of her being with clients, so he devises a way to keep her all to himself. This scheme leads to plenty of trouble, however, and soon Nestor is forced to avoid his old law-enforcement peers in an attempt to stay with Irma and out of jail.

An acknowledged influence on Psycho, Henri-Georges Clouzot's horror classic is the story of a sadistic headmaster who brutalizes his fragile wife and mistress. The two women murder him and dump his body  in a swimming pool; when the pool is drained, no corpse is found.

Beautiful Person [Import USA Zone 1] (2011)

The ever-inventive French director Christophe Honoré (Love Songs, Dans Paris Ma Mère) once again shows his versatility in this tale of adolescent lust and longing. Beautiful 16-year-old Junie (Léa Seydoux, Mysterious of Lisbon,Inglourious Basterds) attends a new school only to find herself in love with her charming Italian teacher, Nemours (Louis Garrel, Love Songs, The Dreamers) while also pursued by a fellow student, Otto (Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet). The attractions of the mysterious Junie are the centerpiece of this modern adaptation of Madame de la Fayette's classic novel The Princess off Clèves
