Chef Serigne Mbaye brings a remarkable global story to the table. Born in Harlem, raised in Dakar, and now at home in New Orleans, he has carried the flavors of his journey into iconic kitchens such as Commander’s Palace, Atelier Crenn, and Atelier Joël Robuchon. Now Chef at Dakar Nola, he has been named Eater NOLA’s Chef of the Year in 2021 and nominated for the James Beard Award in 2022 and 2023, he is widely recognized as one of the most inspiring chefs shaping today’s culinary landscape. In September 2025, Dakar NOLA was named No. 6 in North America's 50 Best Restaurants and The Best Restaurant in the South USA; and was also named to the All-Time Eater 38 list as one of the most essential and influential restaurants in America of the past 20 years. In 2024, Dakar was honored with the prestigious 2024 James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.
