Discover Rhône Wines: Exploring a Legendary Wine Region
Stretching from Lyon to Avignon along the mighty Rhône River, the Vallée du Rhône is one of the oldest and most celebrated wine regions in France — with vineyards dating back over 2,000 years to the Roman era. From the steep granite slopes of Côte-Rôtie to the sun-drenched vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Rhône produces wines of remarkable power, elegance and character.
An Evening of Discovery
Join the Alliance Française de la Nouvelle-Orléans for a guided journey through this legendary region. Together we will:
- Explore the two valleys — the cool, granite-clad North, home of Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne, and the warm, Mediterranean South, dominated by Grenache and its famous blends.
- Discover the crus — Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Condrieu, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and more — and learn what makes each terroir unique.
- Taste a curated selection of Rhône reds and whites, guided step by step by our wine expert.
- Learn the art of pairing — how Rhône wines complement Provençal cuisine, French cheeses, and even Louisiana fare.
